Dear ý   Mr. Havelka vicars general,
dear Mr. Mayor Kutin, distinguished guests, dear friends!

I am delighted to participate in consecration of the restored or cemetery cross in Petrovice.

The original cross Petrovický devoted philanthropist Joseph Peilbauer of house number 192
, and the first time it ordained pastor Anton Klug   in 1796. The creator of the cross was probably Josef Schuster,
a sculptor from Usti nad Labem , who demonstrably created other works of art for the Petrovice church.
In 1876 renovated   this cross by the Teplice sculptor Anton Bauer, the priest Parer Josef Hille paid the renovation and the cross blessed.
Since then, over 130 years have passed, and a new restaurant was needed. This year was perfectly perfomed by Petrovický
sculptor Michael Bílek.  We all cordially thank him.

I am happy to share with 30 sponsors who have contributed to the preservation of this cross, their diamonds are (or will be) at the foot of the cross,
thank everyone and I am grateful for their friendship.
Most of us donors lived in Petrovice as children and young people.
More than 60 years ago, we were banished according to Beneš’s decrees from the native village.
Today we are visiting to participate in the reawakening of the Petrovice Cemetery Cross.
We are proud to have contributed to preserving this Sudeten German cultural monument, as in   many other places
the Sudeten Germans are caring for the art, literature, architecture, and sciences that they and their ancestors   have created in the past eight years.
Perhaps the time will come when giants such as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe will not regret to say
that “the history of Bohemia is the saddest in the world.
” A helpful reader in the book, ” Monolog über Böhmen, finds useful contributions to the Czech-German issue and the idea of its settlement ” – Monolog o Čechách “- author: Willy Lorenz, Austrian son of Czech fatherand German mothers.
The case was published in 1964 in the second edition of Herold in Vidno.

In Christian religion and other mythologies , the cross symbolizes the piety and understanding.
The vertical column represents the connection between heaven and earth; the relationship of man to God.
The horizontal shoulder indicates understanding among people, which is a prerequisite for friendship – the basis of peace.
Hopefully the cemetery cross will keep the inhabitants of Petrovice and surrounding areas for centuries.
May it contribute to the flowering of piety and peace.
